The bonhomme
Faceless, with hair inspired by the Eye of Horus. Protective and silent, he is the one who writes on the canvases.
The artist
“My bonhommes speak for me.”
Vincent Capdevila has been drawing since childhood.
He spent hours watching his grandfather, a mosaic artist, fascinated by the dialogue between colours, materials and shapes.
Through repetition and instinctive gestures, a character was born: a faceless little man — the “bonhomme” — with hair inspired by the Eye of Horus. Protective and silent, the bonhomme gradually became his reflection.
Out of shyness, Vincent never writes directly on his canvases: his bonhomme does. Through him, the artist is constantly searching for words, emotions and techniques to understand, analyse and translate his own life.
Two characters
Faceless, with hair inspired by the Eye of Horus. Protective and silent, he is the one who writes on the canvases.
The character with the bleeding eye. He observes, questions and judges the world: the opposite of the protective bonhomme.
Today this creative energy is on show in his home town. But Vincent knows deep down that his playground reaches far beyond its borders.
